THE Llandrindod Children’s Eisteddfod committee has announced that the 2023 event will be held on Saturday, October 14.

The event is set to begin at 9:30am in Holy Trinity Church, Llandrindod Wells, and will be hosting various competitions for children aged 11 and under.

The eisteddfod is a showcase for young talent. Children from Llandrindod and surrounding areas compete in a variety of spoken, sung and musical events on the stage on the day. In addition, a variety of written pieces and artwork are submitted for judging before the event, with the results announced on the day.

OTHER NEWS:

All local schools have been urged to participate, and parents can also enter their kids individually for the singing, reciting and playing competitions.

Entry is £2 on the door. Refreshments will be on sale, and a presentation of the offstage competition pieces will be available in the St Francis Centre.

The event is also bilingual, and therefore, children can choose to perform in either Welsh or English.

County Times:

The winning school choir will be awarded the Perpetual Cup which has been donated to the event by Llandrindod Wells Town Council.

To win the coveted trophy, the winning choir will have to sing a song in both Welsh and English.

The adjudicators for this years’ eistedfodd will be the experienced Bethan Hiscocks and Lynne Griffin and the committee are looking forward to welcoming them back. Bethan will be responsible for the literature, with Lynne adjudicating the music.

Earlier this year, Gill Wilson, the long-standing secretary, moved away to be closer to her family. The committee extend their greatest thanks to Gill for all her hard work over the years and thank those who have stepped up this year to fill the big boots she left behind.

The committee is always looking for more members and stewards. If you are interested in getting involved, speak to a steward on the day or message the committee on Facebook.
