A family-owned home interiors business on the Powys-Shropshire border is already proving a huge success with local people after opening its doors just 12 months ago.
The newly refurbished Snead Barns Furniture and Interiors, which can be found on the A489 between Churchstoke and Lydham, was taken over by Claire Borkowy in August last year.
Previously a well-established antiques business, Snead Barns has now been transformed into a treasure trove of hand-crafted furniture and home interiors.
Former civil servant and Avon lady Claire, who is originally from the West Midlands, has always had an interest in home interiors and is now living out her dream helping others to style their homes.
She said: “When we first saw Snead Farm and the barns, we knew immediately that this was where we needed and wanted to be.

"With the Shropshire Hills on one side and the stunning county of Powys on the other, it really is the ideal setting. And that’s been confirmed by local people who have pointed out to us that there’s nothing similar anywhere nearby.
“Of course, ultimately, we want Snead Barns Interiors to be the first port of call for all our customers’ furniture and home accessory needs. We have had such a warm welcome here in a short space of time and we are looking forward to growing our connections with the local community.”
There’s something for everyone, from traditional oak to more contemporary mango and sheesham wood. But a room isn’t finished until you have all the complimentary soft furnishings and accessories - and Snead Barns offers that too.

Claire added: “It’s been such an exciting time for us, and we are so proud of what we have achieved so far. We are just getting our name known at the moment and we’ve been getting the message out through social media and word of mouth. Customer service is our top priority and what’s been particularly rewarding is the satisfaction our customers get when they design their own dream space in their home - and they even send us the photos to prove it”.
In fact, locals Lisa and Lee Bennett have become regular customers at Snead Barns. They said it was “the personal touch and kindness you always show to us and all your customers…..that keeps us coming back.”
As an added bonus, alongside the shop, is a Certificated Location caravan site offering five hardstanding pitches open to members of the Caravan and Motorhome Club (CAMC).
The shop is open Thursday to Sunday each week whilst the caravan site is open all year round.
