A PROTEST group against plans to construct a network of wind turbines, electricity pylons and energy parks throughout Radnorshire is launching a fundraising event later this month.

RE-Think’s event will be held at the Alexandra Hall in Llangammarch Wells on Friday, September 15, starting at 7pm.

After a busy summer and now firmly established as a leading pressure group calling for alternatives to large-scale onshore renewable energy projects, RE-Think is turning its attention to the next phase of its campaign.

But while the group is extremely grateful for the enormous support and generous donations received so far, the not-for-profit group says it will require more funds if it is to continue its important work.

The event, to which everyone is welcome, will include a special auction, with some amazing items on offer including Wales v France rugby tickets and a Welsh safari. There will also be a raffle, live music and dancing, along with refreshments and one free drink for everyone attending.

RE-Think Chair Jenny Chryss said: “This should be a really special evening, in aid of an important cause.

“The tourism, environment, ecology and wildlife of our area is under threat as never before. This isn’t necessary. There are viable alternatives to the industrial-scale onshore wind developments which are being planned for Mid Wales.

“Furthermore, experts I have spoken to believe it is perfectly possible to upgrade the grid ready for net zero without building a 60-mile overhead power line from Radnor Forest to Carmarthenshire through some of the most beautiful countryside that Wales has to offer.”

Tickets for the event cost £10 each and can be booked in advance. Visit the RE-Think Facebook page for further details, or email us at rethinkwales@gmail.com. Alternatively, you can buy them at Llangammarch Post Office or on the door.
