A new music and arts festival celebrating people with a learning disability or additional needs is heading to the beautiful surroundings near Llanidloes next weekend.

Old Chapel Farm, home of The Wilderness Trust charity, will play host to the Hangout in the Wild Festival from Friday, September 8, to Sunday, September 10, with something for everyone.

Acts include Will Griff, Ffredi Blino, Creative Stuff Newtown, Art Blank Combo, and the Keith Little Jazz Trio, and more.

Catherine Nunn is director of Music Anywhere which has collaborated with the Wilderness to create a weekend for people who want to 'Hangout in the Wild'.

She said: "Although this years event will be small, it’s hoped that it will bring people together from across Wales to watch some great local bands, take part in workshops and co-create a new festival that will be a staple in the diary for years to come.

"Glamping options are available for hire (at extra cost), as well as van access and camping, which are included in accessibly priced ticket (£10) to take into account the cost-of-living crisis and the extra support that people with a learning disability or additional needs have to pay for to go to social events.

"Since Covid struck three years ago, some services have closed and people who receive support have been left with fewer opportunities to mix and socialise.

"A report by Mencap Cymru, who provide a commissioned day service in Llanfyllin, suggests that adults with a learning disability have less access to day services than before the pandemic, with fewer opportunities to build friendships.

"The festival will be a celebration of people, in beautiful surroundings near Llanidloes, with something for everyone."
