TRIBUTES have been paid following the death of the co-founder of Welshpool Sharks Swimming Club, who was also a significant figure in Powys Scouts.
Bronwen Poole passed away over the weekend, aged 76, following a lifetime of service to her beloved Sharks as well as a long association with the town's scout group.
Welshpool Sharks Swimming Club chairman Samantha Webster said: "Everyone at the club is so sad to have heard the news of the passing of our club founder.
"Bronwen played a key role in the founding of the club in 1983 and been involved ever since.
"Without Bronwen's commitment the club would not be where it is today."

Clubs and officials from across the country paid tribute after the news of the Welshpool club legend's passing.
"Bronwen was a very knowledgable official and officiated at club championships and was always supportive of events," Ms Webster added.
"Bronwen was known by all in the swimming world, a great asset to the Club and Swim Wales. Welshpool Sharks will truly miss her. Bronwen your the Best. Our thoughts are with Michael and the family."
Among the online tributes, Cerian Church said: "Sorry to hear this. Condolences to Bronwen's family.
A loss to the swimming community" while Rich Healey added: "Such a massive loss to our swim community. Thank you Bronwen for all the laughs over the years, it was always a pleasure to see you on the circuit and you'll be sorely missed by all."
Nathan Jones said: "So sad to hear this, Bronwen was a fantastic person, condolences to all her family and friends from us at Wrexham."

Meanwhile Welshpool Scout Group also paid tribute.
Bronwen was the group's treasurer and, along with her husband Michael, each logged 40 years of service with the Scout Association.
First Clive's Own Welshpool Scout Group leader Farrell McManus said: “Bronwen was very much involved with our group.
“In later years, as we redeveloped our headquarters, she was there at meetings to help finances move along, making sure all the cogs were oiled and all the wheels were turning.
“She will be missed by an awful lot of people. All the Scout Leaders in the area were saddened by the news. She was a wonderful lady who was selfless in devoting her time and efforts to groups throughout Welshpool.”
