A YOUNG Powys man who works with cars fears he will lose his job after he was caught drug driving.
Rowan Christopher Lucas, 20, had more than double the legal amount of cannabis in his system when he was stopped by police on April 8. Lucas, an engineer, was still a teenager at the time.
He admitted drug driving at Welshpool Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, August 22.

Prosecutor Helen Tench said Lucas was the only occupant when PCs Bufton and Gates stopped his vehicle near Four Crosses.
“There was a strong smell of cannabis,” said Mrs Tench.
“He had glazed eyes and a jaundiced look. He said he’d smoked cannabis.”
Lucas was driving a blue Ford Fiesta on the B4393, and provided a reading containing 5.3 micrograms of cannabis in his blood – the legal limit is 2 micrograms.Owain Jones, representing Lucas, of Waen Meadows, Llansantffraid, said: “There were no aggravating features, no bad driving, he had no passengers and he cooperated with police.
“Since the incident he has engaged with Kaleidoscope (drug and alcohol charity) to deal with drug misuse.
“He is in employment as an engineer, he repairs engines, and works in Chirk, so he fears he will lose his employment. He is sorry for the offence.”
Magistrates banned Lucas from the road for a year. They also fined him £186 and told him to pay £85 costs and a £74 surcharge.
