BOG snorkelling, wife carrying and husband dragging. Just a few of the completely normal, everyday activities you can take part in this August bank holiday weekend.
Llanwrtyd Wells is your destination for dullness, as the world-famous World Bog Snorkelling Championships come to town.
The fun kicks off with a brand-new addition to the Green Events calendar this year, the Bogathon, which is a mini triathlon, taking place on Saturday, August 26.
The Bogathon is a 60-yard bog snorkel followed by a two-mile cross-country cycle, finished off with a 1-mile cross-country run.
The event starts at 10.30am, with registration at 10am, and you can pay on the day. To find the venue go to Llanwrtyd Wells town centre and follow the frog signs.
Sunday is the main event, with the 35th annual World Bog Snorkelling Championships starting at 9.30am. Both events will be held at the Waen Rhydd bog, near town.
Other madcap events available to participate in throughout the weekend include wife carrying, husband dragging and a ditch race. Entries on the day.
“The World Bog Snorkelling Championships originated in 1986 and since then the event has grown in popularity,” said Bob Greenhough, of Green Events.
“It now attracts an average of 150 competitors on the day from around the world. It really is an international event.
“Three-time champion Neil Rutter is returning to defend his title and there will probably be a few film crews present to record the day.
“Basically, it is won by the fastest person to complete a 120-yard snorkel without using any form of recognised swimming arm stroke. So, two lengths of a 60-yard bog.

“If speed snorkelling is not your thing then we also have a competition for the best costume. Though all those in costume must complete one length of the bog to qualify.
“In addition to the participants there will be a large number of spectators. Should this not be enough there will also be wife carrying, husband dragging and ditch racing.”
As for Saturday’s new event, Bob added: “This is the first year for this event which replaces the triathlon with something hopefully more fun and definitely shorter though still having three elements.
“First up is a 60-yard bog snorkel, transition to 2-mile mountain bike ride then transition to 1-mile run. All elements will probably involve water."
There will also be mountain bike bog snorkelling later on in the day.
Spectators gain free entry though there is a £2 car park fee at the field.
