An unconscious walker in the hills of Powys almost triggered a rescue operation by Aberdyfi Mountain Rescue.
On August 11, shortly after 3.30pm, call-handlers at Aberdyfi Mountain Rescue were made aware of an unconscious walker in the hills south of Aberhosan.
The student, part of an expedition group, had fainted and remained unresponsive for some 20 minutes on a track near Tarren Bwlch-gwyn, the teams said.
As the student fell within Brecon Mountain Rescue Team’s area, they were informed of the incident and they took over investigations while the Aberdyfi team was put on standby to assist.
As preparations to carry out a rescue were ongoing, the group leader reported that the student had regained consciousness and that they were organising an extraction by 4x4 from a local source.
Both teams were then stood down.
