RHAYADER Town chairman Rhys Thomas has thanked townspeople for their support after opening a bar in memory of the club's late chairman Gareth Earp.
The club opened its newly dedicated bar, named in honour of the much-missed former chairman, and respected police officer, who died in a road accident earlier in the summer.
As such the club has endured a tough pre-season but officials have been inspired to ensure Mr Earp’s legacy lives on, starting with a 5-2 defeat at home to Penparcau in MMP Central Wales League South on Saturday.

New chairman Rhys Thomas said: “What a day we had on Saturday.
“We have had a slow pre-season and that showed on the field in terms of match fitness but the quality was there.
“We had fantastic support and it was great to see so many people down the club.
“The feedback from Earpy’s bar has been nothing but positive. I would like to put on my record of thanks to everybody who contributed to the day but also thank sponsors, volunteers and donors for the generosity shown.”
