THE band of trusty volunteers has put up the banners and bunting, which can only mean one thing – Knighton Show & Carnival is ramping up to return on Saturday, August 26.

So, plan to come and spend time in town over the 2023 August bank holiday weekend, catching up with family and friends and enjoying the fabulous show that the carnival committee has worked hard all year to organise.

“We have our four amazing main ring acts, Hawkeye Falconry, Dangerous Steve, Rebel Pro Wrestling and Paws for Thought, to the Welsh Axemen, Emma’s Donkeys, inflatables, climbing wall and live music throughout the afternoon and the entertaining Oompah Stompers to get our parades in full swing,” said show secretary Louise Hardwick.

OTHER NEWS:

“Our food court will play host to a lovely variety of local food and drink vendors with something for everyone’s tastebuds.

“This year’s carnival princess is 15-year-old Yasmin Davies, accompanied by her attendants Ruby, Frankie, Adam and Mason. All of whom were picked by raffle drawn by The Banc, Knighton.

“Our horticultural and craft schedule is available from most businesses in town with an abundance of classes to choose from; all sections have been kindly sponsored by local businesses.

“We are eternally grateful to William Watkins at Radnor Hills for his continued support and generosity. Without such support we would struggle to provide the show.”

Judging for the two processions is at 12pm and 8pm, with forms for entry found in the schedule, and this year’s theme is ‘Legends’, whatever that may mean to you. They could be an individual, sports person, local celebrity, author, film star and this is also incorporated into the business window decorating competition.

“In order for our show to continue to thrive we need the town’s physical support too,” added Louise.

County Times:

“If you have even just an hour to spare on Thursday evening or Friday day time/evening, please reach out and let us know. It could be helping with staking out the ground, putting up tents, tables or even on or after the day.”

Event entry is £7 for adults and £3 for children. Once inside the field the acts and children’s activities are all free of charge and this year you will be able to pay via card at the entrance to the right of the community centre.
