A warrant has been issued for the arrest of a man who failed to appear in court after being charged with drug driving outside a supermarket in Welshpool.
Harry Sanguinetti, aged 29, of Lake Vyrnwy Hotel and Spa, Llanwddyn, allegedly drove a Toyota Hylux near Tesco on January 20 while under the influence cannabis.
It is alleged Sanguinetti had four micrograms of Delta-9 Tetrahydrocannabinol – the main psychoactive ingredient in cannabis and what is tested for – in his blood. The legal limit for cannabis while driving is two micrograms.
The court heard Sanguinetti was sent a letter more than seven days ago informing him that he must attend today's hearing at Welshpool Magistrates' Court.
After Sanguinetti failed to turn up at the magistrates' court on Tuesday, August 1, prosecutor Helen Tench asked for an arrest warrant not backed for bail, which was granted by chairperson of the bench Nerys Jones.
The warrant means that, if arrested by the police, Sanguinetti will be brought to court.
