An art and design student whose family worked at the Laura Ashley factories in Newtown and Carno has lovingly created a paper dress made from the iconic fashion designer’s publicity photographs and catalogue images.
NPTC Level 3 Extended Diploma Art and Design college student Tianna Beau Green design which was part of the 'Being inspired by Laura Ashley' project encapsulates some of Laura Ashley's dress design features with some of her own ideas, with a belt that carries a Laura Ashley quote £everyone has a dream world this was an expansion of mine”.

Many of Tianna's family have worked for the Ashley family in Carno and Newtown including her grandmother, Great Uncle Bryn and Great Grandparents Mona and Clem Richards.
The paper dress will now take centre stage with selected vintage Laura Ashley dresses as part of a month-long exhibition at Newtown Library hosted by Heritage Hub 4 Mid Wales which will open on Tuesday, August 1.
There are also some creative Laura Ashley workshops which will be managed by the HIVE of Welshpool which will run alongside this exhibition.
Well-known Newtown artist and former Laura Ashley textile print designer Brian Jones will be selecting a winner from each workshop who will receive a Laura Ashley apron from the Heritage Hub 4 Mid Wales.
The Heritage Hub 4 Mid Wales is inviting people that worked for Laura Ashley to share their memories and archives of photographs of Laura Ashley events for example from 50 years ago when Carno factory workers and the Ashley family took part in 'It’s a Knockout' in the village.
Some photographs have been digitised and are on People's Collection Wales, the National Library of Wales’ digital heritage website.
