Thousands of people living in south Montgomeryshire were affected by an "unexpected" power cut caused by a cable fault, a power company has confirmed.
Residents in the Newtown, Llanidloes, Llandinam, Llangurig, Caersws, Trefeglwys, Kerry, Dolfor and Sarn areas were without electricity for around an hour overnight from Friday, June 30, and Saturday, July 1.
People also reported having no mobile phone signal and that traffic lights were not working during the power cut which affected the SY15, SY16, SY17, SY18, SY19 and SY21 areas.
A spokesperson for SP Energy Networks said: "Due to a cable fault, power supplies were interrupted in the local area.
"Our engineers were immediately deployed onsite, and the majority of customers had their power restored in under 45 minutes.
"All remaining customers had their power restored in just over one hour and we completed all repairs over the weekend.
"We always work to minimise disruption and apologise for any inconvenience caused.”
