The new postmistress of Newtown Post Office said her family "didn't expect to have so much love from the customers" after taking over the branch in early May.
Tee Rai Thakur, who has almost 15 years' experience running post offices, is a familiar face to people living in the Tregynon area after running the village's Premier Store for many years.
"I've wanted the Newtown branch for the last 10 years," Tee said. "We wanted it for so long and we just got it. We are so happy."
To bring customers back in store, she now has plans to bring retail and an off-licence to the Shortbridge Street branch as well as continue a large range of post office services such as DVLA and passport renewals in 10 minutes, foreign currency, all banking including depositing and withdrawing money, Paypoint and telephone top-ups.

"There’s quite a lot of services that this Post Office provides so we’re trying to do our best. We will see what is best for our customers."
Tee says it's "really nice" to have her family around her at the branch including her husband Arjun, son Yash and "lovely" staff member Arfon.
"People are so happy and that’s what we wanted," Tee said. "They come for a little chit chat. People say we’re the reason for getting out for fresh air. We try to bring everything."
She added: "We’re surprised. We didn’t expect to have so much love form the customers."
Tee and her family took over from Kulwant 'Kelly' Nijjer and his wife Kuljit 'Kully' Nijjer after almost two decades of service to Newtown Post Office.
The pair thanked their loyal customers who have supported them over the past 18 years in Shortbridge Street.
"The customers are the best of the best," Kelly said. "If I upset people, which I may have, I’m very sorry about that. Please forgive me because it’s been a very tough job. It’s very hard to run this place.”
