A POWYS woman who stole £1,000 worth of Christmas presents is due to be sentenced later this month.
Rachael Hince, who had been wanted by police after she initially failed to show for a court hearing in Llandrindod Wells on May 10, pleaded guilty to a charge of theft on May 16.
Hince, 36, admitted stealing Christmas presents valued at £1,000 from a home in Hay-on-Wye on December 16 last year.
She was due to be sentenced at Merthyr Tydfil Crown Court on Wednesday, June 14, but an administrative error meant she had not been told about the hearing.
The court heard that one of the items stolen by Hince had been a locket containing some of the victim’s son’s ashes.
Recorder Eugene Egan heard that Hince, of Brynderwen, Talgarth, had no propensity for not attending appointments and he said he would not punish the young mum for failing to attend due to an error that was not her fault.
He postponed sentencing until June 23, at Merthyr.
