A series of free or low-cost events will be held in Llanidloes to mark a national campaign highlighting the need for action on climate change and nature.

The Great Big Green week will take place over eight days which will be taking place between Saturdays June 10 and 17 with a host of events.

The week's activities will start on Saturday with 'Letters to Tomorrow' at the library between 9.30am and 1pm to "share your hopes for future generations if our leaders step up to take action", and over at The Hanging Gardens from 10am to 2pm volunteers will help repair clocks, phones, small mechanical items, electricals, tool sharpening and other repairs.

On Tuesday (June 13) the Co-op supermarket will have pop-up activities including a visit from Llani Library of Things and "seed bombs" offered to customers by the 1st Llanidloes Brownies.

Rounding up the week will be the "Real" Hay Festival on Saturday, June 17. Tickets at £2 or £5 per family of any size are available to buy at The Hanging Gardens Community Hub.

A spokesperson for Great Big Green Week said: "Now in its third year, the campaign events will draw attention to climate change and destruction of the natural world, while also making a connection with these issues in communities like Llanidloes.

“At the same time, people from all walks of life will be encouraged to take actions to tackle climate change, creating a better world, for us now and for the next generation."
