A WOMAN is facing a trial later this year over two charges of causing unnecessary suffering to two pets, with one of the alleged incidents said to have occurred in Powys.
Milly Beth Turnham, 22, is alleged to have caused unnecessary suffering to a grey and white Husky/Akita type dog known as Joker in Newtown between April 14 and May 14, 2021, by failing to provide adequate nutrition for the animal’s needs, and knowing that failure to do so would likely have caused suffering.
It is also alleged that on April 1, 2022, at Cannon Close in Bridgwater, Somerset, Turnham caused unnecessary suffering to a tricolour collie type bitch known as Shelby, by throwing the dog to the ground from chest height and/or beating the dog with riding crop causing the dog fear, pain and distress.
Both offences have been brought by the RSPCA and are contrary to the Animal Welfare Act 2006.
Turnham, of Snells Park, Upper Edmonton, London, denied both charges when appearing at Taunton Deane and West Somerset Magistrates' Court on May 23.
She is due to face trial and will appear at the same court on July 18.
