TV presenter Iolo Williams has announced that he will not be co-hosting the hit BBC wildlife programme Springwatch this year after undergoing hospital treatment for an embolism.
The naturalist who lives near Newtown shared a photo of himself in hospital on Twitter to update fans that he had had a stent inserted in April which had released a clot causing a blocked artery.
Iolo said: “Unfortunately, I can’t co-present @BBCSpringwatch this year.
“I had a stent inserted in April, which released a clot, that, this week, caused an embolism!
“My demise has been greatly exaggerated, thanks to brilliant friends, wonderful family & the excellent @NHS. Go Megan & team SW!”

After making the announcement on Friday morning (May 26), people shared kind messages wishing him a speedy recovery.
Co-presenter Megan McCubbin said: “Get well soon and rest up! I’ll do my best on the show… but come back soon.”
While BBC Springwatch tweeted: “We’ll miss you, Iolo! Sending loads of love from everyone here at Springwatch, get well soon.”
Iolo was expected to be back on our screens for the latest series of Springwatch on Monday (May 29) exploring the Purbeck Heaths in Dorset, a nature reserve that envelops Hartland Moor, Stoborough Heath and Studland and Godlingston Heaths.
