A new epic cycling route that links Machynlleth and Snowdonia is set to be launched at the end of the summer.

The new Traws Eryri route will be 130 miles long and will have 4,595m of ascent – a rise which is equivalent to riding up Yr Wyddfa (Mount Snowdon) four times.

We are Cycling UK who helped design the route with the help of Natural Resources Wales have said the route will allow riders to take in beauty of the surrounding countryside.

The course’s designers have estimated that the route would take a “competent adventurous rider four to five days to complete the off-road route”.

Both We are Cycling UK and Natural Resource Wales are hopeful that the new epic cycling route should be good for the local area.

Financial estimates produced as part of the plans’ development show that spending from cyclists in the UK generates £520 million per year.
