THE organisers of the Newtown 10K have hailed the event as hundreds of runners took part in the event on a warm sunny day - the first ever in the town.
The 555 participants and their supporters gathered by Hafan Yr Afon in Back Lane on Sunday, May 21 and the race started at 9 am and the route took the runners round the town centre on a flat route before they headed back to Back Lane car park.
The event had been organised by Adrenaline Sporting Events who also organise the Welshpool and Oswestry 10Ks.

The event was won by Rob Samuel and event director Alan Lewis was delighted with the Newtown 10K went.
He said: "The turnout is incredible and the weather has just been a big factor.
"I've ridden the route three times today and there are spectators at every point.
"Motorists were respectful of what we were doing.
"This is such a showcase for the town and I think people will revisit."
The Newtown 10K happened exactly a day after it hosted the Montgomery Canal Triathlon from the same starting point.
Alan mentioned that many of the runners come from outside the town and the local area.
The event director mentioned that the course is easier than other ones which have been held.
Alan said: "This is a super quick course which is great for us because it compliments some of the harder courses we have in Welshpool and Oswestry.
"I think the winning time of Rob Samuel which was under 31 minutes is a testament to how quick the course is."
Rob came back from injury and Alan praised him for his success.
He said: "I raced Rob 15 years ago and he was flying then.
"And I am leading a race on my bike and he was right on my tail.
"It is awesome."
Rob praised the course and was pleased to comeback after his injuries
He said: "It was a lovely course and a perfect day for it.
"I had a few injuries and it was my first race back so it is nice to put a markdown.
"I have had a really rough two years with my back.
