A DRINK driving case against a Newtown man has been adjourned as the defendant could be set to put forward a special argument due to a medical emergency.
Muralee Tharan, 61, was stopped by police driving a black Peugeot 206 in the Sycamore Drive area of town on April 29 and found to be over the drink drive limit.
Welshpool Magistrates’ Court this week heard Tharan, of Beechwood Drive, was found to have 62 micrograms of alcohol in his system when he was stopped by police – the legal limit is 35 micrograms.
Rob Hanratty, representing Tharan, said: “There are special reasons, based on a medical emergency.
“We need to get medical evidence and fix a date. He does occasionally suffer these dire medical emergencies.”
Tharan’s case was adjourned until July 24.
