A PROMINENT member of Powys County Council’s cabinet is stepping down due to health reasons.
Councillor Susan McNicholas, cabinet member for future generations, has announced she is stepping down from her role at the council's AGM next week.
Cllr McNicholas, who represents the Ynyscedwyn ward, in the Ystradgynlais area, has been a member of the cabinet since May 2022, and a county councillor since 2012.
Although she is stepping down from her cabinet role, Cllr McNicholas says she will remain in post as a county councillor.
She is a member of the Welsh Labour party and shares the cabinet portfolio responsibility with Cllr Sandra Davies, who will now assume responsibilities on a full-time basis.

“I have valued my time on the cabinet and I wish my cabinet colleagues well for the future. I will continue as the county councillor, representing the Ynyscedwyn ward.”
Council leader, James Gibson-Watt, thanked Cllr McNicholas for her hard work and contributions to the cabinet during the first 12-months of its new life.
“During her time on the cabinet Susan has shown integrity, loyalty and passion for her role and I wish her well in the future,” he said.
