A McDonald’s restaurant in Newtown was this morning (Wednesday) evacuated after a faulty drinks machine was removed which had set off a carbon monoxide alarm.
Firefighters rushed to the popular fast food chain restaurant after receiving a call at around 8.14am on May 10.
The car park was cordoned off while emergency services were at the scene.
A spokesperson for Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service said: “Carbon Monoxide alarm was activated, with all staff and customers evacuated on arrival.
“Two Breathing Apparatus were used as a precautionary measure as well as a Gas Monitor used to carry out the investigation.
“A faulty drinks machine was removed as the cause of the alarm.”
The restaurant, which had been shut to the public while emergency services were at the scene, was made safe before the Newtown Fire Station crew left at 9.11am.
