THE case of a Powys man accused of drug driving has been adjourned until the end of this month because he is petrified of appearing in court.
Jason Murray, 35, was due to appear at Welshpool Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, May 2, following his arrest for driving under the influence of cannabis in Llandinam on December 11 last year.
Murray, of Lon Ceirios, Newtown, was drug tested after being stopped driving a Land Rover Discovery on the A470. He was arrested after 3.5 micrograms of the drug was found in his blood – the legal limit is 2 micrograms.

Magistrates heard last week that Murray admits the charge, but he had contacted the court requesting the case be dealt with in his absence.
However, a drug driving offence cannot be dealt with without the defendant present. Murray should be allowed to attend the hearing remotely, so his case was adjourned until May 30.
If Murray fails to appear via videolink at that hearing he was warned that a warrant will be issued for his arrest.
