A procession with musical accompaniment which everyone can take part in will take place in Newtown town centre to mark 252 years since the birth of Robert Owen.
Starting at the Robert Owen Museum in Broad Street at midday on Saturday (May 13), the procession will end at the statue between Shortbridge Street and Gas Street.

Museum trustee Dewi Hughes will say a few words about Robert Owen’s impact followed by a dance by local school children and flowers laid at the foot of the statue of Robert Owen.
Refreshments will be provided at the museum after the ceremony to accompany a piece of commemorative birthday cake.
The event finishes at 1pm, but the museum will be open until 3pm to allow visitors to stay and see the museum afterwards.
