ONE person is understood to have been airlifted to hospital following a two-vehicle collision on one of Powys’ busiest roads on Wednesday (May 3).

The “serious collision” occurred on the A470 between Llyswen and Brecon on Wednesday evening and closed the road for several hours.

Police said the two vehicles involved were a Hyundai car and a Ford Transit van, with one casualty reportedly taken to hospital via air ambulance.

“We were called to a collision on the A470 between Brecon to Felinfach at approximately 6pm on Wednesday (3 May),” said a spokesperson for Dyfed Powys Police.

“It involved two vehicles – a Hyundai car and a Ford Transit van. Officers cleared the scene at shortly before 11.30pm.”

Traffic Wales reported the incident on Twitter at just after 8pm and advised motorists to find an alternative route, advising that the road was likely to remain closed for a significant time. They announced at 7am this morning that the road had been reopened.
