MORE than 200 people aired a vast array of thoughts, ideas and comments about Llandrindod Wells when a ‘Talking Shop’ popped up in the town last month.
The old Snap Shop on Middleton Street was given a temporary make-over between April 13-22, when people from all over the spa town were invited to come in, share a cuppa and give their views on what they love, what they think can be improved and how they feel about the town’s natural spaces.
Jenny Mottershead, community organising manager at the Radnorshire Wildlife Trust (RWT), which organised the event, said: “We were quite nervous at the beginning, unsure of how many people would come in and see us but we’ve been really heartened by the interactions we’ve had.
“People really value the town and its outdoor spaces and there’s been so many great ideas for the future.”

The information gathered will now be used to inform the future work of the Nextdoor Nature team at the RWT as well as being shared with Llandrindod Town Council, Powys County Council and relevant local organisations. The RWT will now be contacting all the people who showed interest in helping to make things happen and look at ways that everyone can build momentum and support positive change in the community.
Volunteer Joe Carter said: “We’d like to thank the residents and visitors of Llandrindod for taking the time to pop in and chat to us.
“If anyone was unable to get to the shop while it was open please contact us by email at janet@rwtwales.org, phone/message 07508 866297 or drop a note through the door of the trust’s shop at Warwick House, High Street, Llandrindod.”
The RWT would like to thank everyone who helped with the shop, particularly funders the National Lottery Heritage Fund, as well as the Powys Local Nature Partnership, Peoples Postcode Lottery and Llandrindod Town Council.
