Over 250 acres of Powys farmland is up for sale in what is being called “a rare opportunity”.
Penlan Farm, just south of Knighton, is up for sale as either a whole or as two large lots – both over 120 acres.
The estate agents McCartney’s have said the property “occupies an attractive position overlooking the village of Whitton and beyond.”
“As a whole there may be potential for a possibility of agricultural accommodation (subject to planning). The land would have excellent stocking capabilities in this renowned farming area of Mid Wales.

“Over 200 acres has been in an arable rotation and much of this had grown seed potatoes and many other crops. This is a rare opportunity for a prospective purchaser.”
The first lot for sale consists of modern farm buildings and 121.43 acres of pasture, arable and woodland.
Farm Buildings in the lot include “a seven bay steel portal frame fodder barn with lean to cattle yards to either side” and an “eight bay steel portal frame livestock building with an additional five bay lean to cattle building with an adjoining concrete fodder pad presently used as a silage pit”.
The second lot available includes a three bay fodder barn along with 135.53 acres of arable and pasture land.
A spokesperson for McCartneys said: “This area of land has mainly been in an arable rotation over the past ten years.
"The land has all been laid back to short- or long-term grass leys. The land has a natural water supply pumped from a right at Cwmblewyn."
They added that “much of the land has grown seed potatoes in the past and more recently other arable crops” and that there is “a sheep handling system” located near the access to the lot.
The Farm is offered for sale as a Whole or in 2 Lots by Formal Tender. Formal Tenders are to be received in writing at the Vendor’s Solicitor’s offices on their prepared documents no later than 12 noon on Thursday June 1 2023.
