THE man accused of the murder of Rebecca Steer has admitted to her manslaughter at the start of his trial.
Stephen McHugh, of Artillery Road, in Park Hall near Oswestry, denies the murder of Miss Steer in Willow Street on October 9, last year, and also the grievous bodily harm of Kyle Roberts in the same incident.
However, at Stafford Crown Court on Wednesday, April 19 - the opening day of the murder trial - McHugh was asked to submit a plea to a charge of manslaughter and he pleaded guilty.

Similarly, he again denied the first charge of GBH against Mr Roberts but did admit a lesser charge of actual bodily harm.
Justice Andrew Baker, who is presiding over the case, heard from Kevin Hegarty KC, prosecuting, that the Crown did not accept those pleas and would be pursuing the murder cases against McHugh.
The trial continues.
