A charity fashion show in Welshpool raised more than £1,500 for Cancer Research.
On April 5, a charity fashion show held at Welshpool’s Royal Oak Hotel in aid of Cancer Research UK, raised £1,550 for the charity.
The show was an illustration of the international fashions from Kathy Gittins shop in Welshpool and was organised by Llanfair Caereinion’s Cancer Research Committee.
Over 100 attendees enjoyed display of the fashions available from Ms Gittins’ shop, which were modelled by a number of local residents.
Margaret Hughes, chair of the fundraising committee said: "We would like to thank most sincerely Kathy Gittins, her staff and models for their support for this event and also to all who made this event possible.

“We had a thoroughly enjoyable evening and, through the generosity and support of everyone, managed to raise a considerable amount of money for this very worthy charity.
“The funds raised will go towards the work of the Charity into researching the causes and treatments for cancer and our efforts help to ensure that: Together we will beat cancer.”
According to the committee, the event was well supported and helped boost their fundraising efforts.
Committee member Ann Watkin-Jones said: “We first discussed the idea of a fashion show as a fundraising event, with proceeds going to the charity, at one of our committee meetings.
“It was a chance to do something different from our other events, which have mostly consisted of charity teas and lunches.
“Here was had a unique event with a subject loved by many of our committee members, which could be a social evening while being for a good cause.
“We were fortunate to have Kathy and the models who were all incredibly helpful in organising and putting the event together to a point where it never felt like a challenge, so we are very grateful for their assistance.
“It’s a staggering amount of money to have raised in one evening so we’d consider it a huge success.”
