A PET owner from Powys has been ordered to pay more than £1,000 in fines after his dogs yet again were found to be worrying livestock on neighbouring farms.
Ronald William Robinson, who lives in rural Pantydwr, high up in the hills above Rhayader, pleaded guilty to four separate charges of being the owner of a dog which worried livestock when he appeared in court this week.
The offences occurred over two separate dates last September, at properties that had suffered similar attacks by one of Robinson’s terriers earlier last year.
Robinson, 80, previously admitted three identical offences that occurred in February 2022, for which he was fined and ordered to pay a £400 vet bill last November after one sheep his terrier attacked had to be euthanised.
Llandrindod Wells Magistrates’ Court heard on Wednesday, April 12, that the same three farms had been affected on this occasion too.
The first two charges admitted relate to September 5 last year, when Robinson’s dog worried livestock, namely sheep, on agricultural land situated at Alltlwyd Farm and Hendrerhiw Farm, both near Pantydwr.
A week later, on September 11, 2022, there was another incident at Hendrerhiw Farm and one more at Cefn-Llech Farm. All three farms were involved when Robinson was convicted for like offences last year.
Robinson, of Cae Cethin, Pantydwr, was fined £120 for each of the four offences. He was also ordered to pay compensation totalling £372, as well as a £192 surcharge and £85 costs – making a total financial penalty of £1,129.
