THE monthly Pentref Baptist Church coffee morning took place earlier this month and £100 was donated to local charity the Bracken Trust.
The event took place on Wednesday, April 5, with about 25 people attending.
During the morning a cheque for £100, the proceeds of previous coffee morning donations, was presented to Reg Cawthorne, chairman of the Bracken Trust, by Pentref member Clive Barrett.
After thanking those present for the donation Reg said a few words about the work and growth of the trust since its inception in November 1995.
The Bracken Trust was created by Dr Hans Litchenstein, his wife Sister Beryl and Sister Grace Lawrence, who together recognised the need for a local support centre to help those suffering from cancer.
John Lloyd brought some old photographs of local places and people for those present to identify, which proved popular. Donations from the April coffee morning will also go towards the local branch of the Red Cross.
Further donations from the May event, due to take place on Wednesday, May 3, will go to the same worthy cause.
