Rattus has heard of coaches of school kids being stuck in Dover for 14 hours waiting for a ferry. 

Rattus feels sorry for the teachers and wonders whether they will be volunteering again next year.

I hope someone tells the children that the delays at French immigration are a consequence of Brexit and it was all plain sailing not long ago. When you think it is nearly seven years since the Brexit referendum you would have thought they would have it sorted by now.

Visiting another country is a very good educational experience and benefits children a lot.

Discovering that huge continent of Europe that, despite different languages and traditions, seems to work quite well is encouraging. Kids no longer come back from a European trip with a pocket full of small change from different countries though the Swiss still insist on their own currency.

I hope the delays at Dover will not put them off. It might teach them one of the most important qualities in a traveller - patience. Take a good book and enjoy reading it.

Europe is far from perfect but houses are cheaper and the food is often a divine revelation. I hope they explore it further.
