THEY might be clad head to toe in tattoos and leather and ride massive machines, but that doesn’t mean bikers don’t deserve pampering.

And that’s exactly what organisers of a hugely popular Mid Wales motorcycle festival are offering to ever-goers this year – by introducing glamping.

The first instalment of the No Bull: Just Beer & Bikes festival is taking place at Penmaenau Farm, just outside Builth Wells, next month, and organisers will be introducing a glamping section on the site, working in conjunction with industry specialists Great British Glamping.

“Thank you for all your interest in our idea of offering glamping during our May and August rally,” said organisers in a post on the No Bull: Just Beer & Bikes Facebook page at the end of March.

OTHER NEWS:

“Just to confirm, Great British Glamping is a family-run business based in Bath and they will answer all your questions and you make a booking for the tent with them direct.

“Currently, we are looking at locating the glamping area in the field circled in red, please note this might change, depending on the level of bookings.”

The festival is held twice a year, in May and August, at Penmaenau Farm, Llanelwedd, on the outskirts of Builth – and this year it will be celebrating its 15th birthday.

The first event of the year will be over 5 days and held from May 25-29. The August show is another 5-dayer, taking place from August 24-28.

The March 22 post has caused quite a stir, with many locals and bike enthusiasts with disability issues praising organisers. Some traditionalists, however, are against the idea.

Nickola Quarman said: “We have been going since it was stopped (on) the showground, we've been in the bike scene since I was 14 and my partner was 17, we're now 58 and 61.

“I became disabled 12 years ago and about 6 years ago we had to start using a van due to my disability. Going glamping would make things so much easier for me.”

Paul Wolf added: “I don’t think it’s the glamping that’s the issue, I think people are worried that more and more non bikers will attend and change the dynamic of the event.”

County Times:

Great British Glamping spokesman David Winterflood said he welcomed both positive and negative comments and said introducing a ‘Glamping Village’ at the festival would make it more accessible for motorbike lovers that otherwise might have been put off or unable to attend events.

“Great British Glamping has been working very successfully with several bike rallies over many years including Farmyard Party, Yorkshire Pudding and Stormin' The Castle,” he said.

“We host bikers and we're looking forward to adding an alternative accommodation option to No Bull.

“Glamping isn’t for everyone, and we appreciate the sensitivities around the tradition of bike rallies, however, we truly believe we offer an option for bikers to attend whom otherwise may not, be that due to illness, injury or just too fed-up of crawling into their own tent any more.

“We welcome variety and diversity and I’d like to welcome anyone to come and have a look at the glamping village at No Bull this year and have a chat. We don’t bite and would gladly show you what we’re about.”
