A LUCKY punter is £10,000 better off after finally winning a popular Builth pub’s weekly jackpot prize.
Mike Arrowsmith popped into The Lamb for a pint last Friday night and took home a gargantuan £9,999, after winning the pub’s ludicrously popular ‘Open the Box’ competition.
The weekly game is held at around 7pm every Friday where customers buy raffle tickets along with their gin or Guinness for a chance to win.
A draw is then held where one ticket is pulled out and the winner gets the chance to delve into a bag of keys, searching for the one that will open the box and reveal a fortune.

Each week a key disappears and the jackpot builds, but last week’s was the biggest the pub has ever given away.
“A huge, huge congratulations to Mike and Deb for winning our biggest-ever jackpot last night of £9,999,” said the pub in a post on its social media channels.
“We are absolutely over the moon for them, as they’ve been in every week and have been huge supporters.
“Some of the staff even shed a little tear. The atmosphere last night was incredible.”

The Lamb, rejuvenated since reopening just over a year ago after being taken on by local couple Luke Dewinton and partner Molly Samuel, has been attracting masses every Friday night for Open the Box since introducing it 9 months ago. In that time they’ve given away £18,700.
Open the Box starts again this week on £2,216. Get to The Lamb before 7pm to get your tickets.
