THE Llanwrtyd Heritage and Arts Centre is celebrating the opening of its eighth season with an exciting programme of art exhibitions, concerts and events.
Organisers are delighted to welcome a local art group for the first time to the centre in April. Llandrindod Wells Art Club has been established for over six decades and consists of professional, self-taught and trained artists from all over the UK who now reside in the Llandrindod area.
The local environment, together with personal experiences and recollections, inspire the artists and a wide variety of artistic talent results in diverse and interesting exhibitions which have previously taken place at locations throughout Powys.

Joining the art club for the April exhibition are two returning artists who have had very successful displays in the past.
Irene Funnell produces stunning glasswork which captures the beauty of nature with sometimes vivid and at others subtle colours, using various techniques including fusion and painting. Her display this year includes panels displayed in LED light boxes enhancing the colours and textures of the glass.
The diversity of this month’s exhibition is completed by work from Richie Dean. A renowned digital and watercolour artist, he is exhibiting a range wood carvings which are made from re-purposed wood such as old chairs.
This will be an interesting exhibition with something for everyone and can be seen at the centre, which also has extensive heritage displays and details of the local heritage trail walks.
The centre is open from Thursday to Sunday, 10am to 4pm, and on bank holidays. Entry is free.
