“That’s the main goal of Chinese medicine, which is a prophylactic medicine,” said Mr Pestana “There is no point cleaning your guns after the war has started – the main idea is that prevention is key.”

Mr Pestana is highly qualified having previously studied at a satellite campus of the world-renowned Chengdu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, interning for a year in China before coming to practice in the UK.

County Times:

Last year Mr Pestana’s skills in pain relief were even used by Llanidloes Rugby club who asked him to use acupuncture on their injured players.

“People do come a lot for acupuncture for pain relief, said Mr Pestana. “The National Institute for Clinical Excellence said in a peer review study showed that acupuncture was one of the best therapies for pain.”

However, Mr Pestana says that there are multiple treatments on offer to combat everything from pain relief to liver issues to cardiology to kidney issues.

“It is the focus of my life so far, I do think I have a lot to offer,” said Mr Pestana. “Sometimes people are very sceptical but now I am seeing more people come to me and say ‘I wish I had come earlier’.

“I’m not only treating sports injuries if you have health issues and you can’t get to a doctor I can see what I can do for you.”

The new office is the first step in what Mr Pestana will grow into a bigger community service.

“I have other ideas in mind like becoming a local hub,” said Mr Pestana “A community hub to empower people to look after their health.

"This would include giving talks and workshops to give people the chance to prepare simple prescriptions and teaching people how to use herbs or other natural methods to fight problems.”
