ONE of Powys’ two major roads is going to be closed for some time following a road traffic collision.
Dyfed Powys Police and Traffic Wales have both reported the accident, which happened on the A470. The road is closed between Brecon and Merthyr Tydfil, with the accident occurring around 6am this morning.
“The A470 between Merthyr Tydfil and Brecon is currently closed due to a collision. If possible, please avoid the area and find an alternative route,” the force tweeted early this morning.
Traffic Wales said: “Police incident, A470 closed both directions Libanus to Cefn Coed.
“The road is closed both directions this morning due to a police incident.”
In an update posted around 9.10am, Traffic Wales said: “The road will be closed for some time. If possible, please avoid the area and find an alternative route.”
The A4059 between Hirwaun and the Beacons Reservoir, the northernmost of the three reservoirs along the A470, is also closed.
