A POWYS band are causing a real racket after their debut single dropped on Spotify, Apple and Amazon Music this month.
Marshal and The Hats – a four-piece alt rock band – released debut single 'The Walls Have Eyes' on all major platforms on March 1.
The clean rock track was produced at Giant Wafer Studios, in Llanbadarn Fynydd, by the renowned Ed Lewis.
The band, which formed around 18 months ago, is made up of Josh Bromwell on guitar and vocals, brothers Isaac Coe, on drums, and Luke Coe, on bass and vocals, with Will Hammond on lead guitar.
“I’ve been playing guitar since I was 12, so having a song that I was a part of, out there in the wide world, has been a longstanding goal of mine,” said lead guitarist Will.
“It’s very surreal to see it finally happening and I couldn’t be happier with how it sounds.”
Bassist Luke added: “We formed 18 months ago and decided to get our songs recorded at Giant Wafer Studios with Ed.
“It feels like a milestone to get our music out there and see what everyone thinks. It's going to be the first of many and I'm looking forward to seeing where it takes us.”
The band can often be caught singing at various pubs and venues in their native Builth Wells, and over the past few months they have toured outside Powys too.
They played at Aatma in Manchester and Mr Wolf's in Bristol, while they will be having an EP launch party at The Foundry in Brecon on May 20, with support from another local band, Trading For Souls.
Tickets for the launch party can be found on the band’s various social media pages or by emailing the band at contactthehats@gmail.com.
