The old Texaco garage in Machynlleth has been completely levelled as redevelopment work continues on the site.

Ascona’s project to replace the Texaco garage and petrol station with a completely new facility began work in February, with contractor Toureen Group clearing away the old building by the end of the month.

With the old building cleared away, work is set to begin on the groundwork for the new facility.

Ascona Group, owners of the site, have stated that the transformation will see the expansion of existing Nisa Retail store, fuel, and coffee offers, creating 12 new jobs in the area.

The expanded retail footprint will span 3,500 square feet and offer an extended range of products and food-to-go offerings, as well as infrastructure for electric vehicle charging points.

The new service station will also feature a car park with a larger capacity, as well as a new roll-over and jet car wash.
