After our experiment yesterday with using artificial intelligence to write a song about Powys, now we've asked for a limerick about Welshpool.

ChatGPT is a form of generative AI which has come to prominence in recent months after a version of it was released to the public last year.

It can respond to questions in a human-like manner and understand the context of follow-up queries much like in human conversations.

Here's what it came up with as a limerick about Welshpool - and while we're disappointed it didn't show a bit more sparkling wit, at least it's suitable for a family newspaper...

In Wales, there's a town called Welshpool,

With charming sights that are quite cool,

From the steam train to the canal,

It's a lovely place for all,

Where visitors are never made to feel like a fool.
