A LLANIDLOES man will face trial later this year after he denied racially abusing a police officer.
Wayne Anthony Butler, 36, appeared at Welshpool Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, February 21, where he pleaded not guilty to the charge of religiously aggravated harassment.
Butler, of Valentine Court, Llanidloes, was in custody at Newtown Police Station on August 17 last year and, while there, he is accused of racially abusing detention escort officer Jameel Frederick.
He denies the charge and the matter was set down for trial, which is due to take place in Welshpool on June 5.
Butler was granted unconditional bail until that date.
