A POWYS man is beginning a four-and-a-half month jail sentence after he attacked his pet dog while high on drugs.
Jac Elliot Jones, 28, attacked his French bulldog, Tommy, on November 11 last year, in Brecon.
It was described as a “drug-fuelled, unprovoked attack of a serious nature, on a defenceless animal involving multiple kicks to the head and body”.
Jones admitted causing unnecessary suffering to a protected animal in December and earlier this month was jailed for 18 weeks by a judge.

The attack on Tommy happened at Jones’ Newgate Street home in Brecon, with an immediate term of imprisonment handed down to him when he appeared at Merthyr Tydfil Magistrates' Court on January 4.
District Judge Thomas said a custodial term was the only appropriate punishment given the seriousness of the offence, with a court document stating it was “so serious that only a custodial sentence can be justified”.
A deprivation order was also made against Jones, preventing him from ownership of Tommy in the future
A disqualification order was also made, relating to all animals, and this will last for 10 years. It prevents Jones from owning any type of animal, keeping them, participating in keeping them and from being party to an arrangement under which the defendant is entitled to control or influence the way in which they are kept, during this period.
In addition, he was ordered to pay a surcharge of £154 and £85 costs, which are payable on his release from prison.
