Welshpool shot put and bobsleigh star Adele Nicoll has been signed up for a new sports-themed reality show on BBC Three later this year.
‘Go Hard or Go Home’, a physical fitness reality show presented by Radio 1’s Jordan North, will see eight contestants put through a series of challenges and receive coaching from a team of athletes.
Amongst that coaching team, known on the show as the ‘Warriors’, is Powys’ own sporting sensation.
Adele will join a team of nine athletes and sportspeople that also includes former footballer Ashley Cain, Olympic bronze medal gymnast Nile Wilson and rugby World Cup winner Heather Fisher.
On being cast in the show, Adele said: “I've been desperate to share the news.
“It's a new BBC series that sends such an important message to anyone suffering from mental health.
“It's action packed and emotional. I can't wait for everyone to watch what we got up to on the island.
“Being cast for this show was a complete curve ball in 2022 but I enjoyed every moment.”
Filming the show in 2022 added to the Powys athlete’s busy 2022 schedule, after representing Wales at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham as well as making her breakthrough in bobsleigh and being part of the Great Britain squad at the Winter Olympics.

The BBC announcement for ‘Go Hard or Go Home’ described Adele by saying: “Adele Nicoll puts the ‘slay’ into bobsleigh as part of the GB Women’s team. When she is not hurtling down luges at death-defying speeds, she is a shot putting sensation – in fact, she is the reigning British Athletics Championship winner in the sport.
“Outside of sport, Adele works as a healthcare assistant in mental health units, making her the perfect person to help the competitors of Go Hard Or Go Home put mind over matter.”
The contestants being coached by Adele and the other athletes are described as being stuck in a rut, with each one motivated to take part in the show by a desire to get healthy again, to move on after trauma or to make a much needed change in their lives.
The show comes to BBC Three and BBC iPlayer on February 19.
