AN arrest warrant has been issued after a man accused of theft failed to show up for court.
Edward Gray-Davies faces a charge of burglary from June last year – it is alleged the 37-year-old broke into a shop in Carno on June 28 and stole £9 worth of scratch cards.
Hearing the case at Welshpool Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, January 24, prosecutor Helen Tench actually amended the charge to theft and withdrew the burglary allegation.
But Gray-Davies, of Tregarth, Machynlleth, failed to attend the hearing, so magistrates issued a warrant for his arrest.
The defendant is accused of entering the Carno property as a trespasser and stealing the scratch cards from behind the shop counter.
Mrs Tench informed the bench of the change to the charge and applied for a warrant without bail, which magistrates granted.
