Chilly temperatures didn't stop people from running around Bishop's Castle on Boxing Day in nothing but their underwear to raise money in memory of a hugely popular teenager who was tragically killed on the eve of his 18th birthday.
Around 40 people including Dylan Price's teammates at Bishop's Castle and Onny Valley RUFC, members from other sports clubs and local residents ran a mile to raise £2,758 for a new charity in the teenager's memory.
The Dylan Price Foundation has been set up to help support local young people through sport and to improve facilities in the Bishop's Castle area.
Bishop's Castle and Onny Valley RUFC said: "We all hope Dylan is looking down at this with a smile on his face watching our lads run around Bishop’s Castle in their boxers."
Also taking part were Dylan's dad Darren, and his friends Tom Gee, Matthew Watkins and Corrigan Homewood who had their heads shaved by King's Head pub landlord Lee White to raise extra cash for the foundation.
The club added: "We as a club would like to thank every single person who either took part, watched from the side and whoever raised money for the charity.
"We hope to see as many as you as possible for next year as it’s always a pleasure to see the town come together like this."
It was the second Boxing Day run held since Dylan Price died after being hit by a vehicle while walking home along the B4385 Brampton Road to Bishop's Castle during the early hours of Sunday, September 19, 2021. The much-loved 17-year-old had been in the Bishop's Castle team that played Powys-Shropshire border rivals Tref-y-Clawdd on the day before his tragic death.
Detectives continue to appeal for the public to please contact them if they have any information regarding the circumstances which led to his death.
