POWYS firefighters have issued a warning after reports of children playing on a frozen lake in their town.
Staff from Llandrindod Wells Fire Station took to Twitter on Sunday (December 18) after they were called out to reports youngsters playing and refusing to leave frozen body of water in the heart of the town.
They were stood down before they arrived, but they took to social media to warn of the dangers this can pose.
Last weekend, four young boys died after falling through an icy lake in Birmingham.
The Tweet said: "13P1 this morning to reports of children playing on the frozen town lake & refusing to leave…luckily stood down on route…please educate your children regarding the dangers of playing on frozen water, we don’t want another tragedy this winter."

The incident in the Midlands last week saw boys aged six, eight, 10 and 11 die after they fell through the ice that had formed on a lake in the Kingshurst area.
Similar warnings have been made by fire crews up and down the country over the weekend as the country continued to experience freezing temperatures.
However, from today (Monday) temperatures are rising.
