Pupils of Leighton Primary School were treated to a visit by one of the entrants to Welshpool’s upcoming Illuminated Tractor Run.
On Friday, December 2, a Leighton pupils gathered in the school car park to see a vehicle much larger and much more festive than the kind that usually parks outside their school.
Having travelled down from Rea Valley Tractors, just a few minutes away from Leighton, the tractor’s route to the school was much shorter than the one it will undertake on December 11, when it will join 160 other vehicles on a 30 mile tour of Welshpool and the surrounding villages.
In its second year, Welshpool’s Illuminated Tractor Run has doubled in size from the 80 entrants last year, travelling around the area to raise money for the DPJ Foundation.

The tractors will assemble at Welshpool Livestock market at 1.30pm and visitors will be able to get up close to see them between 2.30pm and 4pm.
At 5pm the tractors will set off and take a circular route that will see them visit Welshpool High Street, Buttington, Trewern, Llandrinio, Four Crosses, Arddleen and Guilsfield.
Leighton Primary School headteacher Lyn Harte said: “We are pleased to support this year's illuminated tractor run, coordinated by two of our parents, Jenny and Kevin Clarke, and are thrilled that our children have been given a sneak peak of one of the tractors this week.
“The tractor didn't have far to travel, with Leighton School just a few minutes from Welshpool.
“We had 72 children extremely happy to see the tractor, all keen to get into the Christmas spirit. If you are considering school options for your child please call on 01938 553261 as we'd love to show you what our school can offer your child.”
