DYFED- Powys Police have been called out this morning to a village in West Wales after reports of a cow 'dangerously out of control' attacked and caused serious injuries to an elderly man.
The reports came in at approximately 10.15am this morning, after a cow had escaped from Whitland Mart and made its way to the centre of the village.
The bovine attacked and trampled the elderly man in North Road, causing him serious injury, and then proceeded to go on the rail track in the area.
In a tweet the Heddlu Dyfed- Powys Police explained: "Man was conveyed by Air Ambulance to the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff.
"Cow then went on the rail track in area, and trains had to be put on stop to mitigate danger to them."

Eventually the animal made its way to a field, where efforts were made to safely contain it, in consultation with the owner.
The tweet continued:"Unfortunately all attempts failed, & due to danger posed by animal it was humanely dispatched with consent of owner.
"The Health and Safety Executive have been informed."
