The illuminated tractor run that dazzled Welshpool in 2021 is set to return this year with another charity drive.
On Sunday, December 11, the illuminated Christmas tractor run is holding its second event through Welshpool, as multiple farm vehicles adorned with lights and decorations will take to the streets for a drive around several towns and villages in the area.
In 2021 the event had 88 entrants, and this year the organisers have said they are expecting almost twice as many entries with 160 tractors currently signed up for the run.
As well as providing a spectacle for the people of Mid-Wales, the tractor run is also raising money for the agricultural charity Addington Fund, having raised over £5,000 for the charity in 2021.
The tractors are scheduled to assemble at Welshpool Livestock Market at 1pm, with spectators free to look at the vehicles from 2pm onwards.
At 5pm the tractors will set off on a route that will pass through Welshpool High Street, Buttington, Trewern, Llandrinio, Four Crosses, Arddleen and Guilsfield.
Organiser Jenny Clarke said: “Ahead of this year’s event I’d like to thank our generous sponsors, without whom, we wouldn’t be able to hold the event like we are.
“Robert Davies Machinery, Rea Valley Tractors, Pontesbury Tractors, Derwas if Welshpool, TR Machinery, RVW Pugh, FRS and Transportation, Welshpool Printing Group, Hughes Caterers, Powys Annual Charity Events and Welshpool Livestock Market.”
The entre fee for each tractor is £10.
